How authorization works

C-COM facilitates effective delegation of authority and incorporation of corporate sign-off policies through its authorization facilities.

Authorization workflows are configured by admins and can be enforced for any of the following actions:

  • Confirm compensation event

  • Accept quotation for compensation event

  • Send early warning

  • Send instruction

If an authorization workflow is enforced for an action that action can be initiated by any user (the initiator) with an appropriate role but instead of the action being executed immediately the authorization workflow will first have to be completed successfully before the action is executed.

Authorization workflows consist of 1 or more levels. Each level contains 1 or more users. Authorization is sought one level after another (starting at level 1) until authorization has been obtained at all levels at which point the authorization succeeds and the initiated action is executed.

If any user at any level denies the initiated action the authorization fails and the initiated action is prevented.

Viewing actions requiring your authorization

Select "Home" from the main menu then click "Required from you" in the Authorizations panel.

ℹ️ Actions will appear here when you are required to provide your authorization.

πŸ”” If you belong to an authorization workflow level of type "Anyone can authorize" then actions may disappear from this list if someone else authorizes before you.

Providing your authorization or denial

Select an action to review it and provide your authorization or denial

Screenshot of: All actions available for you to authorize are shown, select an action to review and authorize or deny it.

The authorization popup appears and contains the following information:

  • a) The project and contract and compensation event (if applicable) the action relates to

  • b) The action initiated, name of the initator as well as the date of initiation

  • c) Supporting information for the action supplied or selected by the initiator

  • d) Overview of the authorizations obtained and yet to be obtained

    • In the example shown:

      • Authorization has been obtained at level 1 so it turns green

      • Authorization is currently required at level 2 so it turns amber

      • If Leon or Nick authorize, the action will be executed immediately, but if either of them deny, the action will be prevented

To authorize the action click "Authorize" then click "confirm" on the next screen

βœ… You have successfully provided your authorization for the action

To prevent the action from being executed click "Deny" then provide your reason for denying on the next screen and click "confirm"

βœ… You have successfully prevented the action from being executed

Screenshot of: To prevent the action from being executed click "Deny", to authorize the action click "Authorize".
