How to send an instruction

Starting your instruction

Select "Projects" from the main menu then select the Project and Contract you wish to send an instruction for. Finally select "Instructions" from the Product menu.

Click "New Instruction"

NEC instruction types

Complete the New Instruction form and pay close attention to the type, you have two different options to choose from:

  • Put into effect

    • the recipient of the instruction must put your instruction into effect;

    • you may notify a compensation event immediately after sending the instruction if you believe it constitutes a compensation event;

    • if you do not notify a compensation event regarding this type of instruction then the receiving party may notify a compensation event regarding the instruction.

  • Provide quotation

    • the recipient of the instruction must only provide a quotation, they must not put your instruction into effect;

    • if you accept the proposal a compensation event will result.

Put into effect

Click "Send"

Expand the instruction preview to take a closer look at the output document C-COM has generated for you.

πŸ”” If you are not satisfied with the instruction close the popup then edit the form and click send again to preview the updated instruction.


Click "Send" to send your instruction

βœ… You have successfully sent your instruction

If you believe your instruction constitutes a compensation event, go ahead and notify a compensation event by clicking the arrow in the yellow next step box.

Provide quotation

Click "Send"

Click "Next" after you have selected the type of compensation event your instruction will constitute if you later put your instruction into effect and stated any assumptions to be considered while making an assessment

πŸ”” Tip

You will have the option to abandon / not put your instruction into effect after receiving the quotation you have requested - you are being asked to provide compensation event related information in case you later accept the quotation or notify your own assessment.

Your instruction is given a provisional compensation event number in lieue of you accepting the quotation or notifying your own assessment.
