How to send an instruction

Starting your instruction

Select "Projects" from the main menu then select the Project and Contract you wish to send an instruction for. Finally select "Instructions" from the Product menu.

Click "New Instruction"

FIDIC instruction types

Complete the New Instruction form and pay close attention to the type, you have three different options to choose from:

  • Put into effect (does not constitute a Variation)

    • The recipient of the instruction must put your instruction into effect immediately;

    • you do not believe the instruction constitutes a Variation.

  • Put into effect (constitutes a Variation)

    • The recipient of the instruction must put your instruction into effect immediately;

    • you are instructing a Variation.

  • Provide proposal

    • The recipient of the instruction must only provide a proposal;

    • the recipient must not put your instruction into effect;

    • if you accept the proposal a Variation will result.

Put into effect (does not constitute a Variation)

Complete the form

Attach supporting files by clicking "Upload" or dragging files into the green upload box. You can add descriptions to the uploaded files one at a time after uploading.

Click "Send"

Expand the instruction preview to take a closer look at the output document C-COM has generated for you.

πŸ”” If you are not satisfied with the instruction close the popup then edit the form and click send again to preview the updated instruction.

Click "Send" to send your instruction

βœ… You have successfully sent your instruction


Put into effect (constitutes a Variation)

Step-by-Step

Complete the form

Attach supporting files by clicking "Upload" or dragging files into the green upload box. You can add descriptions to the uploaded files one at a time after uploading.

Click "Send"

Expand the instruction preview to take a closer look at the output document C-COM has generated for you.

Click "Create" to send your instruction

βœ… You have successfully sent your instruction

The Variation number and details are show in the Variation panel to the right of the instruction you have just created...

If you navigate to Variations via the Product selector in the Projects Explorer you'll notice a new Variation of type "Put into effect" with a status of "Instructed"...

The proposed Variation's number and details are shown in the Variation panel to the right of the instruction you have just created...

If you navigate to Variations via the Product selector in the Projects Explorer you'll notice a new Variation of type "Provide proposal" with a status of "Proposed"
